2002 Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep garnet color.The nose is bewitching and complex with notes of blueberry, blackberry, licorice, cedar and black pepper. The wine is balanced and elegant. It exudes rich flavors of roasted coffee, blueberry and clove in the mouth. The finish is impressively long oozing with notes of black pepper, licorice and berries.

2002 was another exceptional vintage from the Tulocay area. Weather in the second half of the season was warm, sunny, and typical of Napa. We experienced a week long heat wave in July extending the period of veraison [color change] as well as creating some uneven ripening. We removed the green berries by hand and dropped fruit to concentrate flavor and ensure the very highest quality. Ripening through the balance of the year was perfect leaving a rich quality Cabernet Sauvignon on the vine. Passion is expressed in every aspect of vineyard management as well as winemaking using cold soak, extended maceration, and a complex barrel program to produce this superb Cabernet Sauvignon.
