Silver Stag 2002 Parsley Family Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

92 points / $75
From a great vintage, a tight, young Cab just beginning to hit it's stride. Grown in the cooler Coombsville area, south of Stags Leap, the wine is bright and brisk in both acids and tannins that give it firm structure. But it's enormously rich in cassis and cherry fruit, and seems to have a good lifespan. Good now and should live into next decade.--S.H.

Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2002

90 points | $75 | 500 cases made | Red
This immense young wine exhibits intense currant, spice, wild berry and mocha flavors framed by tight, chewy tannins that coat the palate. On the finish, the fruit themes return, with mineral and pebble flavors offering a complex aftertaste. Best from 2007 through 2012. --J.L.

The wine that says California:

No varietal is more responsible for California's winemaking esteem than cabernet sauvignon, and nowhere does it perform better than in the Napa Valley. An exceptionally expressive representative of the genre is the Silver Stag Winery 2002 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
