The Stag Horn Spring 2008
To all of our Friends, Fans, and the rest of the Herd:
We have lots going on at Silver Stag and in the Silver Stag Vineyard this spring.
After a short rest following the exciting 2007 harvest we are getting everything ready for the promise of a new vintage. We have enjoyed a quiet winter with plenty of rain and moderately cool weather. The vines have been at rest and are about to awaken. Pruning is complete and we have decided to “T bud” part of our Merlot block to add even more complexity and depth. This is a very small block of only 375 vines. We cut the heads on 220 vines and grafted 99 to Petit Verdot, clone 400 and 220 to Cabernet Sauvignon clone 169. We feel that this will take full advantage of our micro-climate and geography in offering complex wines of great approachability, elegance, and structure. The results should be tasty.

We have had an “open” website for the purchase of Silver Stag Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon until now. Additionally, our wines have been sold through premium “key” retailers and fine restaurants in six states. Due to increased demand and our limited production of 400 – 700 cases we will close the “open” model and be sold by allocation ONLY after May 1st 2008.
You are and have been our most important partner and asset and as such will automatically become a “charter “member of the Herd. Please take a minute to confirm your account information by Clicking here By becoming a member of the Herd you will be offered a pre-release opportunity of the 2004 Vintage Silver Stag Cabernet Sauvignon on October 1st, 2008. A specific amount of wine will be allocated to you and the amount purchased will be the base amount for the next release. You will also be invited to a “Gathering of the HERD” a “pre-release” event at the Silver Stag Vineyards in September [ Day to be determined] to celebrate the new ’04 release while tasting some of the Library Vintages of Silver Stag and enjoying an afternoon of Hors d'œuvres, music and friends.
